Kentucky Wesleyan fell to visiting Southern Indiana, 5-1 and 12-3, in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Wednesday at Panther Park.
In the opener, the Screaming Eagles jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the top of the first on a bases-loaded walk followed by a Grand Slam by Andrew Cope.
The Panthers came back in the bottom of the third on a RBI single by Nathan Hegepath bringing home
Josh Vance for the 5-1 final.
KWC recorded five hits to USI's three.
Chaz Simpson received the loss after one inning pitched.
Alex Simpson finished the game by throwing six innings with a game-high seven strikeouts while allowing one hit and no runs.
In the nightcap, USI jumped out again to a 4-0 lead in the first.
Aussie Light hit a RBI single to drive in
Jon Wandling in the third inning for KWC.
The Screaming Eagles posted five runs in the fifth and two in the sixth for the 11-1 advantage.
Michael Hellmueller drove in
Reid Walker on a single in the seventh followed by
Josh Vance RBI single to bring
Jordan Harbison across the plate for the Panthers two runs to cut the lead to 11-3.
USI added one more in the ninth to settle on the final score 12-3.
KWC recorded 13 hits compared to the Screaming Eagles 14.
Tyler Emberton received the loss after one inning.
Matt Pobereyko (3 innings),
Tim Steed (2),
Noah Boswell (2) and
Craig Zupan (1) all came in relief. Pobereyko collected a team-high four strikeouts.
The Panthers host Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday and Sunday. Both doubleheaders start at noon.
