Kentucky Wesleyan lost twice to visiting Lewis, 7-3 and 15-1, in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday at Panther Park.
The Panthers got on the board first when
Lucas Ray reached base on a throwing error to bring home
Aussie Light in the second inning for the 1-0 lead. Lewis answered in the fifth with a run for the 1-1 tie.
Mark Hagedorn hit a double in the sixth driving
Nathan Hedgepath across the plate for the 2-1 advantage. The Flyers then scored one in the seventh and one in the eighth for the 3-2 lead.
Hagedorn collected his second RBI of the game in the eighth on a throwing error by the shortstop to score
Ray Delvalle to tie the game at three apiece. Lewis closed the game with four runs in the top of the ninth for the 7-3 victory.
KWC recorded seven hits to the Flyers 12. Devalle was the only one with two hits.
Jon Wandling threw four scoreless innings before giving up a run in the fifth and seventh inning. He tossed seven frames and produced a game-high 10 strikeouts.
Tim Steed received the loss in pitching the final two innings where he had three stikeouts.
In the nightcap, Lewis jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and added five runs in the fourth and seven in the sixth for the 15-0 margin.
The Panthers scored their only run in the seventh when
Brady Smith drove in
Brandon Sigler on a single to settle on the 15-1 final.
Chaz Simpson received the loss in pitching three innings with three strikeouts and giving up eight runs.
Tyler Emberton threw two innings in relief while
Craig Zupan recorded one strikeout in 2/3 inning and
Wes Ward had one strikeout in one inning.
