Box Score

Brescia held off host Kentucky Wesleyan 3-2 in a college baseball game on Thursday at KWC's Panther Park.

It was the fisrt matchup between the in-town rivals since April 28, 2005.

The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Nate Crocker scored on a double-play grounder off the bat of Hank Stewart.

Brescia added a run in the third when Brady Reese, Crocker and Jordan Rhodes all singled to load the bases, and Reese eventually scored on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly by pitcher Christian McHatton pushed BU in front, 3-0.

Kentucky Wesleyan struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth when a double by Aussie Light scored Lucas Ray and Ray Delvalle, but Bearcats reliever Zach McLean got the final two outs to preserve the victory.

Winning pitcher McHatton allowed one earned run and five hits in 81⁄3 innings of work, striking out six and issuing two bases on balls.
