Kentucky Wesleyan came up short as Charleston (WVa.) edged the Panthers 3-2 at the Charger Chillout in Decatur, Ala., on Sunday morning.

The Golden Eagles opened with a 2-0 lead before KWC even the score.

Mackenzie Weedman hit a double and Amber Pendergraft knocked her on a single in the fifth inning. Kelsey Miller hit a single and continued on to home plate on an error to tie the game.  

UC scored the game-winning run on a single in the top of the seventh.

Kaci Ovelgoenner and Emily Woodward each recorded one hit. Ashlee Winstead went seven innings and fanned six batters to receive the loss.

The afternoon contest saw Ohio Dominican jump out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning to go on to defeat the Panthers 11-1.

Alex Baumgart score KWC's only run on a RBI by Ovelgoenner in the first. Meagan Sallee and Emily Woodward also had one hit each.

KWC (1-5) plays at the Southern Indiana Spring Tournament on Saturday and Sunday in Evansville, Ind. They play at noon on Saturday against Ohio Dominican again and Tiffin at 2 p.m.
