The Kentucky Wesleyan women's basketball team went through a bit of an emotional rollercoaster during Saturday's game at Indianapolis.
The Panthers responded from a 13-point deficit in the first half to take a four-point lead at halftime. But Indy opened the second half with a 7-0 run and never looked back, eventually beating the Great Lakes Valley Conference East-leading Panthers (15-7, 11-4 GLVC) 75-64.
Indy took it to KWC in the post, outscoring the Panthers 40-24 in the paint. The Greyhounds also shot 53.2 percent from the field while KWC was held to 36.7 percent.
Three Indy players finished in double figures, led by Katy McIntosh's 20 points and 12 rebounds.
KWC also had three players in double figures, led by Lauren Goffinet's 18 points.
The Panthers forced Indy into 23 turnovers and scored 21 points off of those, and shot 80 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line.
Indy just made a few more shots and a few more free throws (22-of-29) and that was the difference.
KWC now falls into a tie with Lewis atop the GLVC East.
