Kentucky Wesleyan lost to Florida Tech 16-7 on Saturday morning at the Charger Chillout in Decatur, Ala.

FIT opened with two runs in the first and second innings, three in the third and sixth, one in the fourth and five in the seventh

The Panthers scored one each in the first and second with three in the third and two in the bottom of the seventh.

Meagan Sallee went three-for-four at the plate and Ashley Crooke knocked in two runs. Alex Baumgrat had two hits with one RBI and scored a run.

Kaci Ovelgoenner collected two hits, produced a RBI and scored two runs. Kelsey Miller posted one hit, one RBI and one run scored.

Ashlee Winstead received the loss while throwing three innings striking out three. Josalyn Ress can in relief and pitched four innings and had two strikeouts.

In the afternoon contest, Wayne State edged KWC 5-4.

The Warriors scored in the top of the first before Ovelgoenner hit a double scoring Baumgrat and Miller. Crooke wrap up the inning by knocking in Ovelgoenner for KWC's 3-1 lead.

Wayne State in the third exploded with four runs for the 5-3 advantage. Ovelgoenner came back to hit a home run to cut the lead to the final margin 5-4 in the sixth.

Winstead (1-2) pitched seven innings and had two strikeouts.

The Panthers (1-3) plays Charleston (WVa.) on Sunday at 9 a.m. and Ohio Dominican at 1 p.m.
