Game Notes

Kentucky Wesleyan, fresh off its fourth consecutive men's basketball victory, will try to keep the streak going on Saturday when it entertains Salem International in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game.

Tipoff is set for 3:15 p.m. at the Sportscenter.

"I believe we have a bunch of good kids who are learning that they can win," Panthers head coach Happy Osborne said. "We've got kids who have expanded their roles, are playing more than they anticipated the would, and all they care about is helping our team win.

"We've gained some confidence, for sure, but we still have a long, long, long way to go. We need to keep working hard, keeping taking things one game at a time."

Wesleyan (5-5, 1-0 G-MAC) is coming off a 105-59 obliteration of over-matched Ohio Valley on Thursday. In that contest, the Panthers got 24 points from Ken-Jah Bosley, 19 points and 10 rebounds from Dominique Dawson and 16 points from Daviess County High School product James Herzog, who was 5-for-5 from the field and 6-of-8 from the foul stripe.

The Panthers also got another solid game from point guard Lucas Barker, who dished four assists.

"He's seeing what I'm seeing, and that's important because his role is as a coach on the floor as the leader of the offense," Osborne said of Barker. "He's doing a good job for us in that area."

Salem International, meanwhile, opened the season with five consecutive victories before being edged 95-93 by league foe Trevecca Nazarene in a Thursday shootout at Nashville.

"They're very athletic, and we're going to have to solve their 1-2-1-1 pressure, " Osborne said. "They like to get it out and go — they want to push the ball up and down the floor as much as possible."

The Tigers (5-5, 0-1) are led by 6-foot-5 senior forward Walter Brock, who leads the team with averages of 18.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Others expected to start for Salem International include 6-9 junior center Abel Tillman (12.6 ppg, 5.6 rpg), 6-3 junior guard Alex Webb (16.8 ppg), 6-4 senior guard Darius Roper (9.8 ppg) and 5-10 senior point guard Freddy Edouard (3.8 ppg, 3.4 apg).

KWC, playing its fifth game since Jan. 29, gets an 11-day break following Saturday's game. The Panthers don't return to the hardwood until Dec. 18 when they play host to Saint Joseph's.
