Looking to win the programs first G-MAC Volleyball Championship title match the Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team fell to Cedarville in three sets on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers finished the season with a 26-7 overall record.
Cedarville opened the match scoring the first three points and built a 9-2 lead. The Panthers were only able to pull within six points of the Yellow Jackets, as Cedarville took the set 25-17.
During the second set KWC took a 4-1 lead to start the game. Cedarville tied the score at six apiece on a kill. Junior
Bridget Johnson put the Panthers back ahead on the ensuing point. The Panthers held onto the lead until KWC posted an error that gave Cedarville the 12-11 advantage. KWC was unable to regain the lead and Cedarville won the set 25-19.
Cedarville scored the first three points of the third set, but the Panthers took the next four points. The Yellow Jackets scored the next two points before recording an attack error to put the score at 5-5. Cedarville scored four straight points following the tie to go up 9-5.
KWC pulled within one, at 11-10, on a ball handling error by the Yellow Jackets. The Panthers were unable to get any closer as Cedarville took the set 25-18.
Sophomore
Nikki Jenkins collected seven kills on the afternoon for the Panthers. Junior
Hannah Hudnall finished with 13 digs and two service aces. Sophomore
Dallas Zimmerman had four blocks and senior
Jordan Rickert had 26 assists.
The Panthers finished with 30 kills, four blocks and three service aces.
KWC ends the season with the second most wins in a season in program history.
