The Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team knocked off Trevecca Nazarene Friday evening in the semifinals of the G-MAC Championship. KWC is one win shy of tying the school record for most wins in a season, as they are 26-6 following the victory over the Trojans.

Trevecca built a 6-3 advantage in the first set, but the Panthers tied the score at eight apiece with the Trojans recording three errors during the run. Trevecca went ahead by three a few more times in the set before KWC tied the score at 22 on a kill by junior Chelsea Brothers. KWC was unable to take the lead as the Trojans took the set 25-23.

In the second set the Panthers jumped out to an 8-3 lead. The Trojans made a late run to pull within one of the Panthers, making it a 24-23 game following a kill. Junior Bridget Johnson recorded a kill on the following point to give KWC the 25-23 win.

The Panthers again went ahead 8-3 in the third set. Trevecca pulled within one at 13-12 on a service ace, but the Trojans were unable to take the momentum as KWC took the set 25-20 on a kill by junior Hannah Hudnall.

KWC started off strong in the fourth set taking a 9-3 lead. Trevecca was only able to come within four of the Panthers during the remainder of the set. Johnson posted a kill to give KWC the 25-16 win.

Freshman Summer Alford recorded a team high 15 kills. Sophomore Dallas Zimmerman recorded six blocks in the win. Sophomore Nikki Jenkins posted two service aces, while freshman Allyson Banks had 27 digs. Senior Jordan Rickert finished with 49 assists.

The Panthers finished with a .240 attacking percentage, nine blocks and six service aces.

KWC plays #2 seed Cedarville in the G-MAC Championship title game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Jones Gymnasium in Owensboro, Ky.
