During the final day of the G-MAC cross divisional event the Kentucky Wesleyan volleyball team beat Ursuline 3-1 and Ohio Valley 3-0 on Saturday in Mason, Ohio. The Panthers are 13-3 overall and 3-1 in conference action.
Ursuline took the first set 25-20 after pulling away late.
The Panthers grabbed the second set 25-20, after using a 5-1 run midway into the game to build a four point advantage.
The Arrows scored the first point of the third set, but KWC scored the next three points and didn't trail from that point on in the game and won 25-16.
In the fourth set the score remained close until the Panthers used a 4-0 run to extend their lead to five. Ursuline pulled within two late in the set, but KWC held on to take the set 25-22.
Junior
Bridget Johnson posted 21 kills and two service aces in the win. Senior
Jordan Rickert tallied 54 assists and junior
Hannah Hudnall had 25 digs.
KWC had a .250 attacking percentage, seven service aces and two blocks against the Arrows.
Against Ohio Valley the Panthers dominated the first two sets winning 25-17 and 25-16.
During the third set the Fighting Scots played the Panthers closer, but KWC was able to earn the sweep after winning 25-22.
Freshman
Summer Alford recorded a team high 13 kills and also had 13 digs in the victory. Hudnall grabbed 26 digs and Rickert collected 36 assists. Freshman
Emily Yocom registered three service aces.
The Panthers ended with a .305 hitting percentage, eight service aces and three blocks.
KWC returns to action on Friday, Oct. 11 by hosting G-MAC opponent Central State at 5 p.m.
