KWC stumbles in overtime

Kentucky Wesleyan and Missouri-St. Louis played even at 2-2 in regulation before the Tritons scored the game-winning goal in overtime at the 96th minute in Great Lakes Valley Conference soccer action at Panther Field on Sunday afternoon.

UMSL (1-2-1, 1-2 GLVC) scored first at the 33rd minute on a Haley Larson goal and KWC's Mackenzie Weedman tied the score with an assist from Leslie Chinn at the 37th mark for a 1-1 halftime score.

The Tritons then went ahead at the 76th minute on an unassisted goal by Kayla Thorpe before Weedman tied the game 2-2 on an assist from Lilly Gosser with seven minutes remaining.

In the extra period, UMSL's Brittany Harbaugh scored in the 96th minute.

The Tritons had 26 shots to KWC's 17. Alissa Schultz collected 12 saves for the Panthers.

KWC (0-5, 0-4) plays at Lewis next Friday and Wisconsin-Parkside next Saturday.
