Indy rallies past KWC, 76-72

Kentucky Wesleyan had a 13-point lead six minutes into the second half, bu homestanding Indianapolis rallied down the stretch for a women's college basketball victory on Thursday night at Nicoson Hall in Indianapolis.

Two free throws by Megan Birchmeier with 3.6 seconds to play snapped the tie as the Greyhounds improved to 15-5 overall and 9-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

KWC, losing its third consecutive game, slipped to 12-8, 6-6.

Katy McIntosh paced Indy with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Sydney Weinert scored 14 points and Eliza Wortman added 12 for the Greyhounds, who shot 54 percent from the floor after intermission.

The Panthers, held to 39 percent shooting in the second half, were led by Katie Behrens, who scored 11 points. Kourtney Rhoads added 10 points and Karly Rhoads paced KWC with six rebounds.

Kentucky Wesleyan returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Saint Joseph's.
