Kentucky Wesleyan was held to 36 percent shooting and was outrebounded by nine in a 78-69 upset loss to visiting Southern Indiana on Thursday at the Sportscenter.

KWC is back in action at 1 p.m.on Sunday at the Sportscenter, facing Saint Joseph's in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.

The Panthers, coming off a thrillling 115-113 overtime victory at Bellarmine on Saturday, lost to a USI club that had won only two of 17 GLVC games coming in.

The Screaming Eagles (9-17, 3-15 GLVC) led 32-30 at intermission and continued to play stingy defense over the final 20 minutes as they pulled away late.

USI was led by Stephanie Carpenter, who hit four 3-pointers on her way to 20 points. Mary O'Keefe came off the bench to produce 17 points and seven rebounds, and Anna Hackert added 13 points and a game-best 12 rebounds.

KWC (14-12, 8-10) got a game-best 21 points from Karly Rhoads, who also dished a game-best five assists and made three steals. Kristen Rowe had 15 points and six rebounds and Katie Behrens added a team-high 10 rebounds.

Southern Indiana's bench dominated matters, outscoring KWC reserves 29-11.
