The Kentucky Wesleyan football team hits the road for its football finale today with a visit to Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio.
Kickoff is set for noon.
KWC (2-8, 0-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference) is coming off a 38-27 loss at Quincy and has dropped three games in succession since defeating visiting Lindenwood-Belleville 42-35 on Oct. 13.
The Panthers are led by
Jeff Ward, who ranks 45th in NCAA Division II with 132.6 all-purpose yards per game. Ward is also 15th in the nation in punt returns, averaging 15.1 yards per return.
At the controls of the KWC offense is quarterback
Will Barnes, who has completed 173-of-298 passes for 1,708 yards and 15 touchdowns — three of them coming a week ago.
Ward is the Panthers' leading receiver with 41 receptions for 451 yards and five scores, and also the leading rusher (316 yards, 2 TDs).
In last week's loss at Quincy, KWC got a big game from receiver
Ta'Ron Squires, who made six receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Central State (3-6, 3-4 GLVC) is led by quarterback Michael Wilson, who has completed 162-of-327 passes for 2,078 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Wilson's favorite receiver is Steven Heard, who has snared 48 aerials for 622 yards and four touchdowns.
The Mauraders' ground game is paced by Wilson, who has rambled for 677 yards and five scores.
Central State is coached by former Alabama All-American linebacker E.J. Junior.
