Kentucky Wesleyan swept a volleyball doubleheader on Saturday evening at Jones Gymnasium by defeating Illinois-Springfield 3-1 and Indiana-Southeast 3-1.
The opening victory over the Prairie Stars marked the Panther's second consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference win-in-a-row as they posted 25-20, 31-29, 24-26 and 25-14 scores.
Leading KWC were
Chelsea Brothers and
Ashley Smith with 15 kills each while
Nikki Jenkins added 10. Brothers posted a match-best .483 hitting percentage and recorded three block. Jenkins and
MaryBeth Ryan also had three blocks each.
Linda Albrecht produced 47 assists. Defensively
Morgan Watson collected 15 digs and Hanna Hudnall had 13.
In the second match, the Panthers stepped out of league play for a victory over the Grenadiers 26-24, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-16.
KWC's
Bridget Johnson produced a match-high 19 kills followed by Smith with 12 and Jenkins with 10. Ryan led with four blocks while Brothers, Jenkins and Smith had two-a-piece. Albrecht issued 52 assists. Watson had 21 digs and
Rae Garvison with 12.
The Panthers (7-12, 2-6 GLVC), on a three-match winning streak, hosts Quincy on Sunday at 1 p.m.
