Volleyball sweeps Tiffin and Lake Erie in three sets

Kentucky Wesleyan blanked Tiffin 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) on the second day of the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Crossover at Aurora, Ill. on Saturday morning.
 
Ashley Smith led the Panthers with 12 kills and eight digs while MaryBeth Ryan posted a match-high .615 attack percentage along with eight kills and two blocks.
 
Jordan Rickert posted 31 assists and a tied a team-high eight digs with Nikki Jenkins. Jenkins also produced two aces and created three blocks. Bridget Johnson also added two aces. Morgan Watson collected 11 digs and two aces.
 
During the afternoon session, the Panthers (9-14) also blanked Lake Erie 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-18) with Chelsea Brothers compiling 10 kills and a .474 hitting percentage. Johnson recorded seven kills and Rickert issued 34 assists.
 
Smith added six kills and two aces. Jenkins also had two aces. Hannah Hudnall and Watson led the defense with 14 digs each.
 
Ashley Smith was chosen to the Mizuno GLVC-GLIAC Crossover 12-member All-Tournament Team to become the first Panther selected since the Crossover began five years ago. The Crossover saw 32-teams participate in the nation's largest Division II tournament. 

The Panthers, who have won five of the last seven matches, host Cedarville at Jones Gymnasium on Thursday at 7 p.m.
