Parks, Miners too much for KWC

Kentucky Wesleyan's women's basketball team had no answer for Missouri S&T center Hailee Parks on Saturday afternoon.

The 5-foot-11 junior produced game-highs of 24 points and nine rebounds as the Miners rolled past the Panthers 74-58 at the Sportscenter.

Missouri S&T, 10-2 overall, remained undefeated through five Great Lakes Valley Conference games. KWC slipped to 8-4 in all games and 2-2 against the league.

Parks finished 8-of-12 from the field and made all eight of her free-throw attempts.
The Miners also got 13 points and seven rebounds in just 15 minutes of playing time from reserve forward Quintonia Evans.

Kentucky Wesleyan produced only one double-digit scorer, Bianca Barton, who finished with 10 points and was 6-of-6 from the foul stripe. T'Essence Phelps came off the bench to secure five rebounds.

S&T shot 54 percent from the field, made 2-of-3 shots from 3-point range, drained 18-of-23 free throws (78 percent), and outrebounded the Panthers by a healthy 41-23 margin.

Wesleyan finished 21-of-61 from the field (34 percent) and made all 11 of its foul shots.

The Panthers return to action next Thursday against GLVC foe Rockhurst.
