Wesleyan softball team sweeps Asbury in twin bill

Kentucky Wesleyan College swept a softball doubleheader from Asbury on Friday at Foster Field.

Jordan Vertz and Kayla Meny combined to pitch a four-hit shutout in KWC's 3-0 win in the second game. Vertz picked up her first pitching victory in five starts.

Laura Helms hit a triple for KWC.

The Panthers beat Asbury 3-1 in the first game.

Angie Camp and Meny had RBIs for KWC.

Helms was 2-for-2 with an RBI for KWC in the first game. KWC's Ashlee Winstead struck out eight and gave up three hits and a run in five innings.

KWC improved to 7-17. Asbury fell to 9-6.
