Kentucky Wesleyan softball swept cross-town rival Brescia, 7-2 and 1-0, on Tuesday night at Kamuf Park.

Ashlee Winstead earned the Panthers first win by throwing a complete game with 13 strikeouts and six hits.

The Panthers scored two in the fourth to tie the game. Angie Camp started with a double followed by Jackie Porter's RBI. Porter then scored on a RBI by Traci Sanders.  

Katie Kruse posted a three-run homer and Sanders knocked in her second run of the game along with Kayla Meny's RBI in the fifth as KWC scored five runs to bust open the 2-2 tie.

Porter and Kyle Smithson both when two-for-three at the plate.

In the second contest, Camp scored on a RBI double by Meagan Sallee for the Panthers game-winning run in the first innings. Sallee had two of the five hits for the Panthers.

Jordan Vertz went the distance to record the shutout and four strikeouts.

KWC travels to Lewis on Saturday and Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday for two Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheaders.
