The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team held Northern Kentucky scoreless the final 4:48 of their game Thursday to claim a 53-52 win at Highland Heights.

Karly Rhoads made a 3-pointer with 2:08 remaining that capped a 7-0 run and pushed the Panthers in front 53-52.

Northern Kentucky's last chance ended with Kourtney Rhoads blocked Stephanie Hodges' jumper from the right corner and grabbed the rebound as time expired.

KWC (14-8, 8-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference) had never won at Northern Kentucky (14-9, 8-7) in 27 previous meetings.


Katie Behrens' 18 points paced the Panthers, who didn't have anyone else score in double figures.

KWC overcame shooting 37 percent (21-of-57) from the field by holding Northern Kentucky to 40 percent (21-of-53) accuracy.

The Panthers, who trailed 27-26 at halftime, had a 38-36 edge on the boards, led by Amanda Harnist's nine rebounds.

Northern Kentucky was led by Casse Mogan's 14 points and eight rebounds.
