KWC earns first GLVC win of year

The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team earned its first Great Lakes Valley Conference victory of the year on Tuesday night, using hot shooting to defeat Saint Joseph's 91-85 in Rensselaer, Ind.

The Panthers (7-3, 1-2 GLVC) shot 53 percent from the field, including 9-of-18 accuracy from 3-point range. KWC also netted 26-of-31 free throws for 84 percent.

Amanda Harnist paced Wesleyan with game-highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Karly Rhoads, 10-of-10 from the foul stripe, added 17 points and four assists, and Kourtney Rhoads tossed in 15 points.

Tatiana Ortiz paced the Pumas (4-8, 1-3) with 18 points, 10 assists and five steals. Brittney Cruse produced 18 points, seven steals and five assists.


KWC outrebounded Saint Joseph's 34-23.
