Lewis' 3-point accuracy topples KWC, 72-61

Lewis University shot 62 percent from 3-point range on the way to a 72-61 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College in a Great Lakes Valley Conference women's basketball game on Saturday at the Sportscenter.

The Flyers got 15 points from Labrenthia Murdock, and 12 points each from Jenny Turpel and reserve Kelly Monaco.

Lewis finished 26-of-48 from the floor (54 percent) and made 8-of-13 shots from beyond the arc.

Kentucky Wesleyan, which trailed by as many as 23 points midway through the second half, featured only one double-digit scorer -- Karly Rhoads, who scored 10 points.


The Panthers (11-8, 5-7 GLVC) shot just 39 percent from the field, turning the ball over 22 times.

KWC outrebounded Lewis 34-30, with the Panthers' Kailyn Mitchell securing a game-best eight rebounds.

Lewis improved to 10-10 overall and 6-6 in league play.
