Box Score

The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team was unable to battle back from a big first-half deficit in its 69-62 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday at Somers, Wisc.

The Panthers (6-3, 0-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference) trailed 40-21 at intermission after surrendering a 14-0 run to the Rangers (9-2, 3-0) midway through the frame.

Parkside extended its lead to 22 points inside the first minute of the second half and never led by less than double figures until the final 14 seconds.

Karly Rhoads and Amanda Harnist each scored 11 points to lead the Panthers, who shot 37.3 percent (19-of-51) from the field.

KWC fared a touch better from long range, hitting 9-of-24 3-point attempts (37.5 percent). But the Panthers' woes extended to the boards, as Parkside claimed a 43-28 rebounding edge that helped it overcome shooting just 38.2 percent (21-of-55) from the field.

The Rangers also capitalized on making 24-of-27 (88.9 percent) free throws to KWC's 15-of-21 (71.4 percent) performance.

Jadee Rooney and Brittany Beyer each scored 16 points for Parkside.

KWC returns to action when it visits Saint Joseph's at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
