Kentucky Wesleyan College posted a rare victory over Northern Kentucky, 67-63, on Saturday afternoon at the Sportscenter.
It was the first time KWC had beaten NKU since Feb. 21, 2008. NKU owns a 52-6 lead in the all-time series against Wesleyan.
The victory was the fourth in five games for the Panthers (11-6, 5-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference).
Katie Behrens scored 17 points and made a pair of free throws with 6.3 seconds remaining to seal the victory for KWC.
The Panthers built a 10-point lead with 7:32 remaining in the game and held off a furious NKU comeback.
Amanda Harnist's basket with 7:32 left gave Kentucky Wesleyan a 55-45 lead, but NKU responded with an 11-2 run and cut the Panther advantage to 57-56. Kayla Thacker's jumper with 3:36 left tied the contest at 58-all, but Kristen Rowe countered with a basket to give KWC a 60-58 edge.
With less than a minute remaining and the Panthers clinging to a 62-61 lead, Rowe drained a 3-pointer to extend the advantage to 65-61.
Karly Rhoads also scored 17 points for the Panthers.
NKU (12-6, 6-4) was led by Casse Mogan's 22 points.
