Wesleyan drops softball doubleheader to USI

Southern Indiana posted 9-4 and 3-2 wins to sweep a softball twin bill against Kentucky Wesleyan on Tuesday at Foster Field.

In the opener, KWC (14-25, 9-13 Great Lakes Valley Conference) led 3-2 before USI (16-22, 13-11) erupted for four runs in the fifth inning to take control.

The Panthers' Leah Emerick and Suzy Gentili each went 2-for-3. Gentili had two runs batted in.

USI rallied from a one-run deficit to claim the nightcap. KWC's Michelle Hatfield went 2-for-3 and Gentili went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Gentili took the loss in both contests.
