Katie Behrens' game-high 26 points wasn't enough to propel Kentucky Wesleyan College past the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday.

The Panthers fell 68-55 to Northern Kentucky at DeSimone Gym in Somers, Wis., to end their season at 12-16.

KWC fell behind by 13 points in the first half before cutting its deficit to 34-25 at intermission. But the Panthers surrendered a 7-0 run to begin the second half and never got closer than seven points, which came when Behrens hit a 3-pointer with 10:19 remaining that pulled them within 49-42.

KWC shot 38 percent (21-of-56) from the field, including 7-of-17 free throws (41 percent). Amanda Harnist scored 10 points. Harnist, Behrens and Jennifer Coronelli each grabbed six rebounds.

Northern Kentucky (20-8) was led by Brandi Rayburn's 24 points.
