Wesleyan comes up short in upset bid

Box Score
Kentucky Wesleyan College fell just short in its bid to upset Northern Kentucky on Saturday, dropping a 57-54 decision to the Lady Norse on Senior Day at the Sportscenter.

KWC pulled within 55-54 on a 3-pointer by Kristen Rowe at 0:39 and came up with a defensive stop -- gaining possession with a chance to win the game in the closing seconds.

The Panthers turned the ball over, however, and were forced to foul Northern's Whitney Levering, who drained two free throws with three seconds to play to seal it. KWC turned the ball over on its final possession.

Northern (19-6, 13-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) was led by Casse Mogan, who scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Rachel Lantry scored 14 points and Levering added 10. Brandi Rayburn paced NKU with nine rebounds.

Wesleyan (12-13, 5-11) was led by reserve Jordan Ogle, who scored 10 points, and Amanda Harnist, who secured nine rebounds. Jennifer Coronelli paced the club with eight assists and three steals.

NKU shot 40 percent from the field and did not make a 3-point basket in five attempts. Northern outrebounded KWC 41-33.

The Panthers shot 36 percent from the field, making 6-of-18 shots from 3-point range (33 percent). KWC faltered at the foul stripe, however, sinking just eight of its 16 attempts.
