The Kentucky Wesleyan College women's basketball team led nearly the entire game, but couldn't make that edge hold up as the Panthers fell to Elizabeth City State 70-64 on Friday in the Ben Waterman Classic in Wilberforce, Ohio.

Kentucky Wesleyan (4-2) led 31-22 at the half and took a 61-49 lead when Karly Rhoads hit a 3-pointer with 6:45 to play.

But the Panthers didn't score again until Kristen Rowe hit two free throws with 1:16 to play. By then, the Vikings (4-2) led 64-63.

Kenyatta Gill scored 22 points and grabbed 10 boards to lead Elizabeth City State, a North Carolina school. She also scored the last eight points of the game.

Katie Behrens led the Panthers with 15 points. Rowe and Rhoads each had 11, and Lauren Goffinet finished with nine rebounds.
