Quarterback Chris Owen threw three touchdown passes -- two to David Smith -- as Kentucky Wesleyan celebrated Senior Day with a 28-14 win over Notre Dame College on Saturday at Steele Stadium.
The victory lifted the Panthers to 5-5 entering next Saturday's season finale at Concordia-Selma (Ala.).
"It's an exciting time for our young men, and I'm proud our seniors could go out of here with a victory," Panthers head coach Brent Holsclaw said. "We've come a long way with these seniors, and I'm going to hate to see them go.
"Our guys played a very good football game, and they played with a great competitive spirit."
The Blue Falcons (2-8) got on the board first when Jack Foy caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from James Flowers early in the first period.
KWC tied it at 7 moments later, however, when Owen hooked up with Vincent Lalonde for a 63-yard scoring pass.
The Panthers took their first lead on the first play of the second quarter when Owen connected with Smith on a 26-yard TD pass to make it 14-7.
Wesleyan extended its lead to 21-7 early in the third period when Smith caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Owen.
That's the way it remained until the final two minutes of the contest, when each team scored a TD.
KWC's Darius Henderson led all rushers with 114 yards on 23 carries.
Owen was 20-of-40 for 223 yards with three TDs and an interception.
Smith finished with six catches for 77 yards and two scores, and Lalonde had four receptions for 110 yards and a TD.
The Blue Falcons are in their first year of varsity football.
