KWC hopes to land above .500

Game Notes

The Kentucky Wesleyan College football team has two games left in the regular season, and if the Panthers finish above .500, they'll have to win out.

That two-game push to the finish line starts today when they host Notre Dame College, an NCAA Division II Independent based in South Euclid, Ohio, at 1 p.m. at Steele Stadium.

KWC (4-5) has been able to put points on the board, averaging 30 points per game. But it's also giving up 36 an outing with its best defensive showings coming against Pikeville and Miles, which scored four touchdowns each.

The Falcons (2-7) are in their first year of varsity football and have been shut out twice this season. They haven't scored more than 22 points in a game.

Their primary offensive threat is Derrick Paster, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound sophomore who has caught 41 passes for 611 yards and three touchdowns.

KWC quarterback Chris Owen is 13th among D-II quarterbacks in passing yards (2,619) and 16th in passing yards per game (291).

Receiver DaMarcus Ganaway is tied for ninth in yardage (112) and tied for 20th in catches per game (7).

KWC wraps up the season at Concordia-Selma (Ala.) on Nov. 13.
