Quincy -- Wesleyan's latest foe -- undefeated at home

The Kentucky Wesleyan College men's basketball team has turned into a road-tested unit.

The 16th-ranked Panthers have won three of four on their five-game swing through the Great Lakes Valley Conference. KWC (20-3, 9-2 GLVC) ends its trip tonight at No. 19 Quincy.

It will be another tough test.

The Hawks (17-2, 7-2) broke a two-game losing skid with a 73-68 win against Bellarmine on Thursday night and are 13-0 at home.

"Most of their guys that played any minutes last year played together, so they know the system," KWC coach Todd Lee said. "They were a good team last year, but this year, they've turned into a great team.

"They're undefeated at home. That will be a big challenge."

But the Panthers have shown an ability to adjust to tough conditions playing away from the Sportscenter.

KWC did an about-face in the second half against Lewis in a 77-65 win on Thursday. Beaten badly on the boards in the first half, the Panthers outrebounded the Flyers for the game.

The bench pitched in, too, as Travis Owsley, Andree' Wilson and Willie Richardson keyed the pivotal run midway through the second half that decided the game.

Center Jay Ivey also had his best game of the year, scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while going up against Lewis' 6-foot-10 center, Marty Strus.

Quincy presents another inside challenge with Justin Brock, a 6-8 center.

He is second on the team in scoring at 15 points per game, shoots 62 percent from the field and is averaging nine rounds a game.

Billy Baptist, a 6-5 senior forward, leads Quincy in scoring at 16 points per outing.

KWC beat the Hawks in both meetings last year and won the final game by 19 points.

Lee expects a much closer game this time around as the Hawks return plenty of experience.

"They had a bunch of juniors last year, and they're very good," he said. "They've got a couple of really good athletes in Billy Baptist and Mookie Pierre, and they have a big post player (Brock) and he scores a lot."
