Kristen Rowe hit two free throws with 13 seconds to play, then secured the game-clinching defensive rebound as Kentucky Wesleyan edged host Rockhurst 55-54 on Monday afternoon in a women's college basketball game at Kansas City, Mo.

It was a tight battle all the way, with Rockhurst holding a 25-23 advantage at intermission.

Rowe led KWC (10-7, 3-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference) with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots. No other Panther player reached double-digits in scoring.

Amanda Harnist added seven rebounds for Wesleyan, which got three assists and two steals from Jennifer Coronelli.


Ali Fromm, who hit three 3-pointers, scored a game-best 14 points for the Hawks (5-11, 1-8).

The Panthers shot just 31 percent from the field and missed all 10 of their 3-point attempts. KWC made up for by hitting 23-of-30 foul shots (76 percent).

Rockhurst also was held to just 31 percent shooting.

KWC visits Northern Kentucky on Thursday.
