KWC loses tight one

Kentucky Wesleyan came close to winning its first volleyball match of the season, before host Maryville (Mo.) pulled out a 27-25, 23-25, 25-19, 23-23, 15-13 victory over the Panthers Friday night at Moloney Arena in St. Louis.

Wesleyan falls to 0-14 overall and 0-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Maryville improved to 2-10 (1-4).

KWC statistical leaders included MaryBeth Ryan (seven kills), Haley Chrzastowski (seven kills), Ashley Hasting (13 assists, three aces) and Michelle Hatfield (37 digs).
