KWC offense struggles in loss to Grand View

Kentucky Wesleyan College could generate little offense in a 24-12 loss to Grand View on Saturday at Steele Stadium.

The Panthers managed just 87 yards total and were minus-20 on the ground in falling to 1-5.

It was defensive pressure that allowed Grand View (5-2) to go up 21-0 on a fumble recovery in the end zone by Tyler Andersen after KWC's Vincent Lalonde was thrown for a 9-yard loss.

Brett Opdahl caught two touchdown passes, both covering 18 yards, to push Grand View to a 14-0 lead. One scoring pass was from Taylor Bennett; the other from Gregory Charles.


The Panthers got on the board when Eric Rhodes returned a blocked punt 25 yards for a touchdown with 1:44 left in the second quarter.

Apollo High School product David Howard scored on a 1-yard run to bring KWC to within 21-12 early in the third period. Howard hit Jake Pepper for a 30-yard gain, and DaMarcus Ganaway for 17 yards on that drive. Howard was 12-of-24 for 101 yards.

Grand View finished with 315 yards in total offense. Daryl Ford ran 39 times for 146 yards for Grand View.

KWC travels to Saint Joseph's next Saturday.
