Kentucky state tournament participants Martha Tallent and Erica Swisher have signed national letters-of-intent to continue their education and golf careers at Kentucky Wesleyan College, as announced by Panther head coach Brent Mathew
Tallent, a three-year letterwinner at Greenwood High School in Bowling Green, led the Lady Gators to their first state tournament appearance with a ninth place finish this past fall by shooting a 98. She received the team's Most Improved Player Award as a junior and earned Academic All-State honors three times.
"Martha brings a very consistent short game and is improving her distance off the tee," said Mathew. "She is fundamentally sound golfer that will do nothing but improve during her career at Kentucky Wesleyan."
Swisher, a seven-year letterwinner at Mason County in Maysville, has made five state tournament appearances including shooting a 93 in this season's championship. She was co-medalist in leading the Lady Royals to their first regional championship in eight years.
"Erica brings a lot of tournament experience with her to Kentucky Wesleyan," Mathew said. "The college distance will suit her well. She hits the ball long off the tee. She has a chance to come in and be an instant impact golfer for us."
The Panthers return six returning letterwinners from last year's squad.
