Kentucky Wesleyan guard Marlon Parmer, the 2003 NCAA Division II Player of the Year, signed as a free agent with the the Minnesota Timberwolves, as announced by the Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale.
Parmer, a 6-foot-3, 187-pound from Inglewood, Calif., averaged 5.3 points, 1.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 12.3 minutes per game in three contests for the Timberwolves entry in the 2005 Minnesota Summer League.
He spent the 2004-05 season with the Continental Basketball Association's Yakima Sun Kings and with Bnei Hasaron in the Israel Premiere League.
In 2003, Parmer led the Panthers with 19.9 points, 8.2 assists (second in the nation), 1.3 steals and 35.2 minutes. He shot 46.8 percent from the field, 36.6 percent from three-point, and 79.1 percent from the free throw line, and was third in rebounding at 5.6 per game.
The consensus All-American scored in double figures 33 of 35 games, recorded eight double-doubles (pt-asst) and had back-to-back triple-doubles (pt-reb-asst) as a senior.
Minnesota also signed free agents John Lucas, a 5-11 guard from Oklahoma State, and Ryan Humphrey, a 6-8 forward from Notre Dame and a three-year NBA veteran.
The Timberwolves under first year head coach Dwane Casey, a former UK standout and Union County High School product, opened their training camp today with 21 players competing for 12 spots.
