Box Score

Kentucky Wesleyan tied a program record for victories in a football season with a 44-0 rout of Ohio Mid-western on Saturday at Steele Stadium — a game called after three quarters due to mounting injuries for the undermanned visitors.

"Overall, our guys did a great job — it's been a great year," said longtime KWC head coach Brent Holsclaw. "We've got a nice foundation. We're at a point finally in my tenure here where we're ready to take the next step.

The Panthers — 7-4 for the first time since 1999 — got on the board early in the first period when Dalton Oliver hooked up with Keelan Cole on a 63-yard touchdown pass.

KWC blew the contest open with a 24-point second quarter. After a 17-yard field goal by Cole Woodburn, Xavier Mitchell caught a 63-yard scoring pass from Oliver. Roger Beets then caught TD aerials of 1 and 19 yards from Oliver -- stretching the lead to 31-0 by intermission.

In the third quarter, Oliver threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Cole, and Brian Thomas added a 6-yard TD run.

Oliver was 15-of-25 for 296 yards and five TDs to lead a KWC offense that rolled up 364 yards in only three periods.

Cole and Mitchell combined for nine receptions covering 240 yards, and Eman Westmoreland highlighted the rushing attack with a 43-yard run.
