David James received preseason second-team All-America recognition by the Consensus Draft Services.
James, a senior linebacker from Forestville, Md. (Oxon Hills HS), led the Panthers in tackles (88), tackles-for-loss (15), sacks (2.5), pass breakups (5) and blocked kicks (3) in 2009. He also had one interception for a 60-yard touchdown.
James earned the Great Lakes Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award and D2Football.com All-Independent honors as a junior.
The Panthers will open the 2010 season by hosting Indianapolis on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m.
