Nick Kuenneke will receive a NCAA Division II Degree-Completion Award for the 2010-11 academic year, as announced by the NCAA. This marks the first KWC student-athlete to receive this honor.
Kuenneke, a golfer from Carbondale, Ill. (Carbondale HS), completed his eligibility this past season as a senior where he posted an 81.3 stroke average over 13 rounds. In the classroom, he has maintained a 3.67 cumulative grade point average as a history major.
"A team and campus leader, Nick truly exemplifies the meaning of student-athlete," said Gary Gallup, KWC director of athletics. "He has been a positive ambassador for the college and well respected and is well liked by his fellow student-athletes, faculty, staff and members of the community."
Kuenneke served as the Panthers captain his junior and senior year and lettered for four seasons. He has been selected to the Dean's List's five times (3.5 gpa or better), President's List (4.0) once and the Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team four straight years.
The Degree-Completion Award Program assists former student-athletes who have exhausted their athletics eligibility and will not be receiving athletic-related institutional financial aid.
